Paul Laughlin was delighted to be invited to speak at the latest Operational Research (OR) Society event at London Business School this week.
Organised by the OR Society’s Analytics Network special interest group, Paul presented to a packed lecture theatre together with two other great speakers. He was joined by Jacqui Taylor Founder of Flying Binary and Gerard Crispie UK & Ireland Data Science lead at Cognizant.
Jacqui presented on Data Visualisation & Web Science, whilst Gerard shared a case study on modelling complex relationships to design better Oil platform ?jackets?. It was great to see so many attend and engage actively with questions during the session & later over drinks.
Paul gave a 25 min summary of his 9-Step Model for the Softer Skills that Analysts and Data Scientists need to succeed. He explained each of the steps & when these different skills are so critical to analysts both generating useful insights & seeing those insights executed to realise ROI.
His brief overview is available on SlideShare:?
Paul was also very impressed by this Analytics Network group and the events being organised by Eduardo Cortes. Paul will be collaborating with the OR Society again when he delivers a workshop for their annual Analytics Summit in July. Further details of future Analytics Network events can be found here:
Finally thanks to London Business School for their gracious hosting and interest in these subjects too. Great to see such a commercially focussed university.
